Riley's 3rd Birthday

It's hard to believe our little man is three already. He's growing up so fast. A few months before he turned three a wonderful milestone was reached... he was potty trained!! Yay for Riley! No more pull-ups! He is still growing like a weed. At his 3 year check-up, he was 90th percentile for height, and 55th percentile for weight. Tall and skinny, just like his Daddy! His favorite toys are still Tigger, Pooh and of course the Cars movie characters, Lightening McQueen, Tow Mater & Finn McMissile. His favorite food is mac n cheese and his favorite show is Frosty the Snowman. Thank goodness for our DVR, because he asks to watch Frosty almost every day. He constantly sings the Frosty song. Almost to the point that we don't want to hear it anymore. He wants no radio in the car, just to sing either Frosty or Rudolph. I guess it could be worse!

He had a great birthday this year with 3 different celebrations. We had his party at Fun Station, Jr., where they have bounce-houses and an arcade. He is one lucky boy to have so many friends and family that came to help him celebrate. For Mommy and Daddy, having a December birthday is no fun because of ALL the toys he gets. Our house is just overflowing with stuff until a few weeks after Christmas when we have to sort out the old ones and put the new ones away. He is overwhelmed with so many and really can't figure out which ones to play with first. Somehow, he doesn't think it's so bad!

We celebrated his actual birthday with his playgroup friends at our house in the morning. I made cupcakes and Tom stayed home to man the bounce house. The kids had a good time. We are very lucky to have such great friends in our playgroup thanks to Mom's Club. In the afternoon, we went to the park to celebrate with more friends and he had even more cupcakes! What a lucky boy!

Tom and I are so proud of our boy and can't wait to see what this next year brings. But... we're only one month past his birthday and I must say one last thing... the "two's" are easy compared to the "three's" and whoever made up the saying "terrible two's" must not have had a clue what the "three's" bring!!

Celebration of Lights

The first weekend of December was the annual Celebration of Lights here in Tallahassee. This was our first year taking Riley. We met up with some friends and had a good time. There were tons of lights, a variety of music, ice skating, good food and even a parade. The kids really loved it! At one point in the night, as we walked by one of the many stages that were set up, Riley stopped to listen. It had a man playing an acoustic guitar singing some random song. All of the sudden, Riley busted out dancing. Tom and I looked at each other, WHAT is our child doing? I would normally say that he's a shy kid, but clearly, I was wrong! He danced and danced. Even his friend Ethan and some other kids that were passing by, joined in. I got out my phone and started recording. It was awesome!! I posted the video on Facebook, if anyone would like to see it. Again, a memory that we will never forget. Our boy never ceases to amaze us!

Wild Adventures Trip

The day after Thanksgiving we surprised Riley with a trip to Wild Adventures Theme Park. He was so excited to see the animals and ride the rides! He rode his first roller coaster and loved it! He also got to feed a giraffe, which was his favorite thing about the trip. He wasn't scared either. He even let it eat off of his head. What a rascal... as Tom would say! We let him go all day without a nap, which we never do, and he was super tired by the end of the day. We let him pick one last ride and he chose the roller coaster again. This time, Mommy got to ride it with him. Guess what he did? He raised his hands up in the air the whole time like he was a pro! Our boy is growing up so fast and has no fear!

Here are some of our pictures from the trip.
